About the Role

Environmental Scientist – Refinery Closure & Contaminated Sites

This is a contract role based in Kwinana, WA. Work on one of WA’s most complex refinery environments, supporting large-scale site closure, demolition, and contaminated land programs. This is a unique opportunity to step into a technically focused Environmental Scientist role, where you’ll influence environmental compliance, remediation, and risk management across a major industrial site. Your work will directly contribute to high-impact environmental outcomes in a challenging, fast-paced setting.

• Location: Kwinana, WA
• Rate: $75 per hour plus Superannuation
• Contract Duration: 3 - 6 months with Long-term opportunity
• Start Date: ASAP or short notice preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Work on one of WA’s most complex refinery environments, supporting large-scale site closure, demolition, and contaminated land programs.
• Your work will influence environmental compliance, remediation, and risk management across a major industrial site.

About You / Requirements

• Experience in contaminated sites investigation and remediation (advantageous)
• Strong background in environmental compliance and reporting
• Exposure to mining, refining, oil & gas, or heavy industry
• Solid understanding of WA environmental legislation and licensing
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and reporting requirements
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• High attention to detail with regulator-ready documentation
• Must have full Australian work rights

Qualifications & Certifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
• Experience working within an Environmental Management System (EMS)
• Knowledge of reporting frameworks such as AER, AACR, NPI
