Communications Technician

About the Role

MPI is seeking a Communications Technician to join a leading underground mining operation in WA. Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting underground communication systems, including remote-control and hardline networks supporting Caterpillar loaders.

The role also involves fibre-optic installation and maintenance, managing underground communications infrastructure, and supporting instrumentation systems critical to safe and efficient site operations.

To be successful, you will have

• WA Driver’s License (manual C class)
• Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology
• ACMA Open Cabler Registration
• Optical fibre endorsement
• Experience and technical proficiency in communication systems supporting mobile mining equipment and underground infrastructure
• Strong troubleshooting and maintenance experience with two-way radio networks and in-vehicle communication systems
• Familiarity with the installation, testing, and maintenance of fibre-optic, copper, and wireless communications networks
• Exposure to mobile fleet management, telemetry and operational monitoring systems within a mining environment.
