About the Role

Become a Specialist in Caterpillar Powertrain Rebuilds

Looking for a role where you can develop specialist mechanical skills and work on some of the largest Caterpillar powertrain components in Australia?

At WesTrac's Component Rebuild Centre in South Guildford, you'll join a specialist team rebuilding critical Caterpillar powertrain components that keep the mining and construction industries moving.

We're looking for mechanically minded tradespeople who want to develop their technical expertise in a highly skilled workshop environment.

Location South Guildford

Roster

  • 5 Days On, 2 Days Off (M-F), 10-hour shifts plus lunch break
  • 2 weeks day shift: 6:00am to 4:30pm
  • 2 weeks night shift: 4:00pm to 2:30am - 25% loading on all hours

Current Opportunities Within the Component Rebuild Centre As part of your application, you'll be considered for opportunities across three specialised teams within our Transmissions & Final Drives operations, including:

  • Final Drives Assembly - Precision assembly and rebuild of final drive components to Caterpillar OEM specifications.
  • Transmissions & Powertrain Assembly - Assembly and rebuild of transmissions, torque converters and powertrain components.
  • Final Drives, Transmissions & Powertrain Disassembly - Component disassembly and condition assessment to identify wear, faults and repair requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Rebuild Caterpillar transmissions, torque converters and final drives
  • Complete component disassembly and condition assessments
  • Diagnose wear, faults and repair requirements
  • Perform precision assembly to Caterpillar OEM specifications
  • Measure, inspect and record component condition using specialised tooling and equipment
  • Conduct quality inspections and testing throughout the rebuild process
  • Maintain accurate service reports and technical documentation
  • Work safely within a highly skilled and supportive team environment
  • Deliver quality workmanship aligned to WesTrac's SPARC Values of Safety, Pride, Accountability, Respect and Customer

Skills & Experience

  • An Australian recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification
  • Experience in heavy diesel, automotive, truck, light vehicle, agricultural or mobile plant maintenance
  • Pride in producing quality workmanship
  • The ability to follow procedures and technical instructions
  • A commitment to safety and teamwork
  • Strong attention to detail

Highly Regarded, but Not Essential

  • Component rebuild, overhaul or major repair experience
  • Caterpillar or OEM experience
  • Dogging and Forklift tickets
