About the Role
We are seeking Trades Assistants and Welders to join our rural fabrication team, with full-time, permanent positions available at our Gilgandra site in NSW.
In this hands-on role, you’ll work from drawings and production schedules to fabricate and assemble steel components to a high standard. You’ll be involved in marking out, cutting, welding, and assembling materials, while safely operating a range of workshop tools and equipment.
Working closely with the broader production team, you’ll help ensure jobs are completed efficiently, maintain quality standards, and contribute to a safe, well-organised workshop environment. Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of the Production team to prepare and fabricate steel components for agricultural products, including silos and feed bins;
- Read and interpret drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine job requirements and specifications;
- Mark out, measure, cut, drill and assemble materials in accordance with fabrication drawings and required tolerances;
- Operate and maintain hand and power tools, including welding equipment, grinders and related workshop machinery;
- Perform welding, fabrication and assembly tasks to a high standard, ensuring quality and accuracy of finished products;
- Inspect completed work for defects and ensure compliance with specifications using appropriate measuring tools;
- Move materials and components within the workshop using overhead cranes and forklifts (where licensed and authorised);
- Support workflow by transferring components between production areas and assisting across departments as required;
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment, including general housekeeping and basic equipment maintenance;
- Identify faulty equipment, materials or processes and report issues promptly to supervisors;
- Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to ensure efficient and timely production outcomes;
- Promote and adhere to a strong safety culture, following all policies, procedures and safe work practices;
- Undertake other reasonable duties within your skills and capabilities as directed.
About you
- Previous experience in a similar role (welding or fabrication experience highly regarded);
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, team-focused attitude;
- Ability to take initiative and adapt to changing tasks;
- Current Driver’s Licence, with a Forklift Licence desirable;
- Willingness to learn and undertake on-the-job training.
