Your impact

As a Trade Assistant reporting to the Supervisor – Trucks, you will play an important role in supporting safe, efficient, and reliable mining operations by providing mechanical support to trades personnel across the Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) fleet within Mine Asset Management. Your contribution will help maximise planned maintenance outcomes, reduce unplanned downtime, and ensure maintenance activities are completed to a high standard - directly supporting equipment availability and production targets.

As part of our team you will

• Provide hands-on mechanical support to trades personnel across scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
• Assist trades with fault diagnosis and rectification on Heavy Mobile Equipment
• Support scheduled servicing programs, including mobilisation of equipment for in-pit services
• Clean machinery, components, and subparts to support maintenance quality and reliability
• Assist with the operation of the tool store, including issuing and returning tools and equipment
• Liaise with warehouse and tool store teams to obtain required parts and tooling
• Assist with inspection and change-out of Ground Engaging Tools (GET), including within the AHS pit environment
• Support supervision of contract personnel to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
• Apply site safety systems, procedures, and stop-work authority where required
• Maintain housekeeping standards within the workshop and work areas
• Contribute to site Continuous Improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve safety and productivity
• Complete maintenance documentation and records accurately
• Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams to support fleet reliability

Prerequisites for your success in the role

• Current C Class driver’s licence
• High Risk Forklift licence
• HR licence (desirable)
• Basic mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn and develop within a mining
• maintenance environment
• Previous experience in a mechanical workshop or mobile equipment environment (preferred)
• Exposure to Heavy Mobile Equipment maintenance highly regarded
• Experience with Ground Engaging Tools (GET) inspections and replacement advantageous
• Ability to work safely within structured safety systems and operational environments
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to follow direction from trades and supervisors
• Good communication skills with a proactive, positive attitude
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement

Your work environment

This is a full-time opportunity at Newmont’s Boddington Gold Mine in Western Australia, operating on a 7 on / 7 off rotating dayshift/ nightshift roster, supporting Mine Maintenance activities across the HME fleet, fixed assets, and supporting infrastructure.

You’ll join a supportive, site-based maintenance team, gaining hands-on exposure to modern mining equipment and systems, including autonomous haulage environments. The role offers practical learning opportunities alongside experienced tradespeople in a safety-focused, performance-driven workplace.
