About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Superintendent to lead the Geotechnical Engineering function at Kathleen Valley. This newly created role, reporting to the Underground Manager, owns the governance of geotechnical engineering standards, ground support systems and paste engineering standards that support safe and efficient extraction of the orebody. It is a rare opportunity to shape the geotechnical strategy of a Tier-1 underground mine at a defining stage of its life. This is a permanent, full-time position on an 8:6, 4:3, 12-hour day roster.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the Geotechnical Engineering team.
• Own the Ground Support Management Plan and Backfill Management Plan, ensuring both are maintained and reviewed annually.
• Provide technical leadership for ground support strategies, excavation stability and seismic risk management.
• Provide technical oversight of paste backfill engineering, including design philosophy and QA/QC standards.
• Mentor the Backfill Engineering function through a dotted-line reporting relationship.

About you

• Bachelor''s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in underground hard-rock mining, including senior technical roles.
• Significant experience in geotechnical and backfill engineering.
• Demonstrated experience with engineering governance and management plans.
• High proficiency with mine design and geotechnical modelling software, including Deswik.
