Your new company

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Software Architect / Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in designing and delivering large-scale, distributed software solutions. This is a highly hands-on architecture position focused on translating solution concepts into detailed, build-ready technical designs that engineering teams can confidently implement.

You will work across complex, real-time systems, defining architecture, system behaviours, APIs, event flows, and data structures while collaborating closely with development and delivery teams throughout the software lifecycle.

Your new role

• Develop Detailed Technical Designs (DTDs) that convert solution architecture into clear, implementation-ready specifications.
• Design and define microservices, APIs, event-driven interactions, data models, and system workflows.
• Architect solutions supporting real-time and near real-time processing, including telemetry, event streaming, routing, and asset state management.
• Apply modern architectural patterns including event-driven architecture, actor models, and distributed systems design.
• Ensure solutions meet requirements for performance, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and operational resilience.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to shape architecture-driven Epics, Features, and User Stories.
• Facilitate technical design reviews, architecture workshops, and decision-making sessions.
• Provide hands-on guidance during implementation to ensure successful delivery against architectural intent.
• Support engineering teams in resolving complex technical challenges across the solution landscape.

What you'll need to succeed

Core Experience

• Proven experience as a Software Architect, Solution Architect, or Senior Software Engineer within complex distributed environments.
• Demonstrated ability to create low-level technical designs and developer-ready specifications.
• Strong background designing and delivering event-driven architectures.
• Experience working within real-time processing systems.
• Strong systems-thinking capability with the ability to design end-to-end workflows and state transitions.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and technical leadership skills.

Essential Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET Core / .NET 6+.
• Expertise in distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Experience with event-driven messaging platforms, including RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus, and similar messaging technologies.
• API design experience covering RESTful services and asynchronous and event-based integrations.
• Strong understanding of data modelling and relational databases (SQL Server preferred).
• Experience designing solutions involving real-time data processing and streaming events.
• Exposure to modern CI/CD practices, GitHub, and automated deployment pipelines.
