Senior/Lead Electrical Designer

We are seeking an experienced Senior/Lead Electrical Designer to join an established engineering team delivering industrial and resources projects.

This position would suit an Electrical Designer with strong electrical drafting and design capability who is comfortable working across brownfield and greenfield projects, from site verification through to detailed design and project delivery.

The Role

Working closely with electrical engineers, project leads and other design disciplines, you will be responsible for:

• Producing electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and termination drawings
• Developing cable tray layouts and cable routing
• Preparing electrical equipment layouts and area classification drawings
• Producing material take-offs and supporting project documentation
• Completing 3D electrical design and modelling
• Undertaking site visits, field verification and as-built mark-ups
• Reviewing drawings and technical documentation for accuracy and quality
• Supporting commissioning and project delivery activities
• Coordinating with Mechanical, Piping, Structural and other engineering disciplines
• Working with project teams and clients to resolve design issues
• Supporting multiple projects and design packages concurrently

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design or relevant technical qualifications
• Around 7+ years' electrical design experience
• Experience working within industrial, mining, minerals processing, infrastructure or similar project environments
• Strong MicroStation capability and knowledge of BHP and Rio standards
• Experience producing electrical schematics, wiring and termination drawings
• Experience with cable tray and electrical equipment layouts
• Exposure to 3D electrical design packages
• Good understanding of electrical design standards and drafting practices
• Strong attention to detail and document quality
• Ability to work effectively with engineers, designers and project teams
• Willingness to undertake site visits when required
