Senior Underground Project Engineer
Liontown Resources
Job Description
About the Company
Liontown Limited (ASX: LTR) is one of Australia's newest and most exciting lithium producers. Our Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation in Western Australia is a world-class, tier-one asset with a 20+ year mine life — and we're now building on that foundation through a significant staged underground expansion.
The expansion is underway. Underground development of the Northwest Flats orebody is progressing, infrastructure programs are accelerating, and a dedicated project team is being assembled to deliver the next phase of Liontown's growth.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Infrastructure Superintendent, this is a hands-on engineering role sitting at the intersection of project management and underground infrastructure delivery. You'll be involved in the design, resourcing, and execution of a broad range of infrastructure projects supporting both ongoing underground operations and the expansion program.
From sustaining capital works — pump stations, escapeways, ventilation controls — through to more complex expansion-related infrastructure, you'll play a key part in keeping Kathleen Valley's underground running safely and efficiently.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assist with the design, resourcing, and project management of all infrastructure associated with underground operations, including key projects for the underground expansion
- Manage sustaining capital items including pump stations, escapeways, and ventilation control infrastructure
- Support end-to-end delivery of underground capital projects from scoping and design through to construction and handover
- Develop and manage project schedules, track costs, and drive delivery within budget and program
- Coordinate with contractors, Technical Services, Production, and Planning teams to ensure infrastructure works align with operational priorities
- Monitor the condition and performance of key underground infrastructure systems and support proactive maintenance planning
- Contribute to capital expenditure planning, CER preparation, and procurement activities
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across project workflows and infrastructure systems
What We're Looking For
- Tertiary qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering — we welcome candidates from across these disciplines
- Experience delivering infrastructure or capital projects in an underground mining or heavy industrial environment
- Working knowledge of underground infrastructure systems such as dewatering, ventilation, power distribution, or escapeways
- Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and contractors
- Strong collaboration and communication skills — you'll be working closely with operational and technical teams
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and thrive in a live mining environment
- Project management experience or certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) desirable
- Current Australian driver's licence and ability to satisfy standard WA mine site requirements
Qualifications & Certifications
- Current Australian driver's licence
