Senior Safety Advisor

About the Role

As our Senior Safety Advisor at the Cowal Gold Operation, you will play a pivotal role as the site’s subject matter expert for all things safety, providing visible field leadership, specialist advice, and hands on support across a large, complex and long life mining operation. You will partner closely with operational leaders, Safety Advisors and the Superintendent for Safety, Health & Training to ensure our Safety & Health Management System (SHMS) is effectively implemented, monitored and continuously improved.

In this role, you will lead incident investigations, drive proactive risk management, strengthen safety culture, and ensure statutory and legislative compliance across site operations. You will also take ownership of safety campaigns, change management processes, contractor safety performance, hazard identification and operational risk controls - shaping a safer, more resilient operation every day.

About You

You are an experienced Safety professional who brings strong technical capability, sound judgement and the ability to influence at all levels of a mining operation. You thrive in the field, where you can provide visible safety leadership, coach frontline teams, and guide supervisors and Safety Advisors in safe work practices, risk management and continuous improvement.

You will be successful in this role if you bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety or Risk (essential)
• Demonstrated OHS experience, ideally 5+ years in mining, metalliferous operations
• Strong capability in incident investigations (ICAM), hazard ID, risk assessments (JSA, WRAC, SOP, SWI), contractor safety, chemical management and legislative compliance
• The ability to deliver visible field leadership - coaching supervisors, SHRs and Safety Advisors to lift safety performance
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, mentor and build trust across departments
• Strong organisational skills, initiative, and a proactive approach to safety, innovation and continuous improvement

This roster is 5:2 / 4:3, 10 hour day shifts. Flexible roster option considered.
