Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer
Ramelius Resources
Job Description
About Us
At Ramelius Resources, gold mining is not just what we do — it is who we are. From our early days at Wattle Dam to becoming one of Australia’s most respected gold producers, we have built our success on agility, resilience, and a commitment to operational excellence.
With a strong pipeline of projects and a focus on sustainable growth, we are investing in our assets and exploration to deliver on our vision. But what truly sets us apart is our people. We foster a culture of opportunity, respect, and shared ambition — when you grow, we grow.
Our Mount Magnet Mining (MMG) operations include multiple open pit, underground, and satellite sites with a projected 17-year mine life. The Cue open pit projects are a series of high-grade open pits producing important mill feed for the Mount Magnet processing hub. The Eridanus Pit is a previously mined pit that will soon re-commence mining as a major cut back.
The Role
As Senior Mining Engineer you will work across both the Cue and Eridanus projects, providing technical leadership for drill and blast activities while supporting open pit mine planning and operational performance. Working closely with mining and contractor teams, you will oversee the design, execution and optimisation of blasting programs, ensuring safe, compliant and productive mining operations.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead drill and blast design, planning and optimisation activities to support safe and productive mining.
- Develop and maintain short, medium and long-term mine plans, schedules and forecasts.
- Monitor mining performance, costs and production results, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Assist with annual budgets, forecasts and life-of-mine planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, environmental and company requirements.
- Deliver accurate operational reporting and maintain the integrity of mine planning data and systems.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to engineers and operational personnel.
- Build strong partnerships with contractors and operational teams to safely achieve production objectives.
- Support contractor onboarding, performance management and compliance with site standards.
- Champion a positive safety culture through visible leadership, risk management and environmental compliance.
- Communicate effectively across crews, departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful execution of plans.
About You
You are a results-driven Mining Engineer with a strong technical foundation and a passion for improving operational performance. You have demonstrated experience within open pit mining environments and are comfortable balancing strategic planning with day-to-day operational support.
