Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a major industrial capital program in Western Australia. Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will play a key role in delivering brownfield engineering projects across complex processing facilities.

This is a site-based position initially, offering the opportunity to work closely with operations and project stakeholders while contributing to the delivery of significant asset improvement and capital works initiatives. A hybrid arrangement may be available once established in the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical engineering solutions in accordance with statutory, regulatory and industry standards.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical documentation, drawings and design deliverables.
• Develop practical, fit-for-purpose solutions from concept through to commissioning and handover.
• Participate in HAZIDs, HAZOPs, Safety in Design workshops and technical reviews.
• Identify, assess and manage engineering and asset lifecycle risks.
• Support project planning, estimating and scope development activities.
• Coordinate engineering activities to meet project schedules and budget requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and designers.
• Manage technical queries, change control processes and quality assurance requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practice.

About You / Requirements

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 8 years' experience within mining, minerals processing, refining, heavy industry or related sectors.
• Demonstrated experience leading mechanical engineering activities on brownfield projects.
• Strong understanding of all phases of project delivery from concept through to execution.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

You will have proven expertise in several of the following areas

• Equipment layout and plant design.
• Pumping and piping systems.
• Slurry transport and fluid system analysis.
• Pipe stress analysis.
• Pressure equipment design.
• Materials handling systems.
• Interpretation of mechanical, piping and P&ID drawings.

Experience with software such as AFT Fathom, FluidFlow, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Adobe Suite and the Microsoft Office suite will be highly regarded.
