Senior Mechanical Designer

About the Role

Senior Mechanical / Piping Designer - (Contract or Staff Potential) We are seeking experienced Mechanical and Piping Designers to support a range of brownfield and greenfield industrial projects within the resources and heavy industry sectors.

• Senior Mechanical Designer (10+ years' experience)

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D mechanical and piping models using Bentley and Autodesk design platforms.
• Develop detailed models for bulk materials handling equipment, including conveyors, chutes, hoppers, bins, tanks and associated infrastructure.
• Interpret vendor documentation and incorporate vendor equipment into project models.
• Produce mechanical layouts, detailed design drawings and fabrication deliverables.
• Prepare 2D drawings to client and project drafting standards.
• Support both design and drafting activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in model reviews and design coordination using industry collaboration tools.

Required experience

• Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Design/Drafting.
• Strong experience with 3D modelling and design software used within industrial or process plant environments.
• Experience producing mechanical and piping models, detailed design drawings and fabrication documentation.
• Knowledge of bulk materials handling systems such as conveyors, crushers, stackers, reclaimers, chutes and storage systems.
• Ability to work from vendor drawings and specifications.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering project teams.

Highly regarded

• Piping modelling experience, including isometric generation and specification management.
• Experience with mining, materials handling or process plant projects.
• Exposure to underground materials handling systems.
• Familiarity with model management and collaboration platforms.
• Experience using Navisworks, Revizto or similar model review tools.
