Senior Exploration Technician

About the role

As a Senior Exploration Technician at our Mungari operation, you will play a key hands-on role supporting the Geology and Discovery teams across field, core yard and open pit environments. This is a senior, trusted position where your experience and leadership will directly contribute to the quality, safety and efficiency of our exploration activities and long-term growth plans at Mungari.

Reporting to the Exploration Supervisor, you will work closely with Geologists and contractors, providing high‑quality technical support while mentoring and guiding junior Field Assistants and Technicians. You will also step into a leadership role during supervisor absences and help drive continuous improvement across day-to-day exploration activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing professional, accurate and timely field and core yard support to Geologists and the Field Supervisor
• Supervising core yard activities, including sample preparation, data entry, consumables ordering and diamond core despatch to laboratories
• Allocating daily tasks, monitoring throughput and maintaining safe, efficient core yard operations
• Assisting with the training, onboarding and mentoring of new starters to full competency
• Supporting exploration programs across drilling, mapping, sampling and contractor liaison activities
• Championing safety, environmental compliance and continuous improvement across all work areas

About you

You are an experienced exploration professional who thrives in practical, field-based environments and enjoys supporting others to succeed. You bring a strong foundation in exploration or mining operations, a safety-first mindset, and the confidence to take initiative when needed. You communicate well, work collaboratively, and take pride in delivering high-quality outcomes that support geological decision-making.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• 2–5 years’ experience in exploration, open pit and/or underground mining environments
• Sound hands-on experience supporting day-to-day geology and exploration activities
• A strong understanding of field assistant/technician duties and workflows
• The ability to work outdoors year-round in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions
• A genuine team mindset, with a willingness to mentor others and step into leadership when required
• Current manual driver’s licence
• Forklift licence
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
• Experience with GPS/DGPS, map interpretation and core yard operations
• Exposure to pXRF or spectral data acquisition
