Senior Contracts Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Senior Contracts Specialists to join a major resources organisation across a number of projects. These roles will provide senior-level commercial and contractual support across the project lifecycle, from procurement and tendering through to contract execution, delivery, claims, variations and close-out.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage contracts across major resources, mining, construction or infrastructure projects.
• Develop and manage procurement and contracting strategies in consultation with project stakeholders.
• Lead tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract award activities.
• Prepare, review and negotiate contract documentation, scopes, commercial terms and conditions.
• Manage contractual obligations, variations, claims, extensions of time, notices and commercial correspondence.
• Provide commercial and contractual advice to project teams and senior stakeholders.
• Monitor contractor performance, commercial exposure, deliverables and compliance.
• Identify, assess and mitigate contractual and commercial risks.
• Lead negotiations with contractors and suppliers to achieve strong commercial outcomes.
• Manage contract changes and ensure appropriate governance and approvals are maintained.
• Provide commercial reporting, forecasting and advice on contract performance.
• Support dispute avoidance and resolution where required.
• Mentor and provide guidance to Contracts Specialists and other project team members.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and suppliers.
• Lead contract close-out activities, including final accounts, outstanding claims and contractual obligations.

About You

• Significant experience in contracts and commercial management within the mining, resources, construction, infrastructure or major projects sector.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex contracts across the full project lifecycle.
• Strong experience in tendering, negotiations, contract administration, variations, claims and commercial risk management.
• Proven ability to provide contractual advice and commercial challenge to project stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of contractual principles, commercial frameworks and project delivery environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously.
• Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with major contractors and suppliers.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Procurement, Commercial, Business, Law, Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
• Mining or major resources project experience is highly desirable.
