Project Planner Scheduler

Our Tier 1 Mining Client is looking for an experienced Project Planner / Scheduler to join a major mining operation and support the delivery of brownfield asset maintenance, improvement and small capital projects.

Roster: 8/6 FIFO from Perth

Start date: ASAP

Duration: approx. 3-6 months - with potential to extend

Pay Rate: Starting from $80.00 p/h + Super depending on experience

The Role:

This is a key project controls position responsible for integrated project and portfolio planning, scheduling and work management across the full project lifecycle. You will work closely with project, engineering, maintenance, operations, shutdown and contractor teams to ensure projects are planned and delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed schedules.

The role will support a diverse portfolio of fixed plant and infrastructure projects, including:

  • Critical and complex asset replacements
  • Asset modifications and upgrades
  • Obsolete equipment replacement
  • Structural remediation including steelwork, civil and concrete works
  • Campaign maintenance and shutdown works
  • Small capital and brownfield projects

You will play a key role in maintaining schedule integrity, identifying project risks and resource constraints, supporting shutdown readiness and providing clear reporting to project and operational stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules aligned to project scope and milestones
  • Create resource-loaded schedules using Primavera P6
  • Integrate SAP work orders into project schedules
  • Conduct portfolio-level schedule analysis and resource levelling
  • Identify scheduling risks, constraints and opportunities for improved delivery
  • Prepare and present schedule reports covering milestones, risks and resource requirements
  • Review project performance data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Collect and validate work requests through SAP
  • Develop work orders and labour breakdown structures
  • Allocate labour resources and manage resource planning
  • Support shutdown readiness, including labour, materials, tooling and logistics
  • Coordinate procurement workflows including PR/PO processes
  • Coordinate material delivery and logistics to site
  • Support CAPEX and OPEX budget control
  • Track cost recovery and indirect overhead allocation
  • Support risk workshops and project governance activities
  • Coordinate monthly billing, vendor scorecards and invoice approvals
  • Conduct post-project reviews and lessons learned
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and support HSE requirements
  • Facilitate planning workshops and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

Required Experience:

  • Demonstrated Primavera P6 experience in a project or portfolio planning capacity
  • Minimum 3 years' work management planning experience in operational or maintenance environments
  • Experience supporting complex, multi-stakeholder projects
  • Strong experience across project governance, including: Schedule management / Risk and issue management / Financial management / Resource management & Quality management
  • Solid experience with shutdowns, campaign maintenance and small capital projects
  • Demonstrated safety leadership within operational or project environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Experience evaluating KPIs and driving continuous improvement
  • Strong problem-solving and planning capability
  • High attention to detail and the ability to prioritise under pressure
  • Strong workshop facilitation and communication skills
  • Ability to coach and positively influence technical and operational teams
