About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join the ABFI Steel Group team based in Wacol, QLD on the afternoon shift. In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee workshop production activities, supporting the fabrication team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output across the shift.

You will be responsible for coordinating workflow, supervising trades and operators, and ensuring production targets and deadlines are met. Working closely with the Production Manager, you will help drive productivity, maintain quality standards, and keep work flowing smoothly through the workshop. This is a great opportunity for a strong “on-the-floor” leader who enjoys being actively involved in day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate afternoon shift production activities
  • Manage workflow across fabrication, welding, and machine operations
  • Ensure production schedules, quality standards, and deadlines are met
  • Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with specifications
  • Lead and support workshop staff during shift operations
  • Maintain strong focus on workplace health and safety
  • Assist in resolving production issues and keeping work moving efficiently
  • Communicate effectively with Production Manager and other departments

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or steel production environment
  • Previous supervisory or leading hand experience (essential)
  • Strong understanding of workshop operations and production flow
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and job instructions
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong communication skills
  • Safety-focused with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Trade background (Boilermaker/Welder/Fabrication) highly regarded
  • Must be available to work afternoon shift.
