With strong in-house engineering, project delivery, and operations capability, we are delivering projects across solar, wind, battery storage (BESS), hydrogen, and emerging energy solutions.

About the Role

The Pre‑Contracts Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for driving UGL’s Energy & Industrial bid strategy and leading a high-performing Bid Management team. You will oversee the full tender lifecycle—from opportunity pursuit through to contract award—ensuring high-quality, competitive, and commercially strong submissions that position UGL to win. You’ll play a key role in shaping how we pursue work, manage risk, and secure major renewable energy projects.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute pursuit and win strategies for key opportunities
  • Oversee the end-to-end bid process, ensuring submissions are compliant, competitive, and on time
  • Provide governance and oversight across all pre-contract activities, including risk management and approvals
  • Collaborate with estimating, engineering, commercial, and delivery teams to develop strong proposals
  • Build and maintain senior client relationships to strengthen positioning and win probability
  • Present bid strategies and recommendations to executive stakeholders
  • Ensure effective handover from the bid phase to project delivery

Your Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Commerce, or related discipline
  • Strong track record leading and winning bids and delivering projects across solar, wind, BESS, or similar large-scale EPC projects
  • Proven experience in a senior pre-contract, bid management, or commercial leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience managing bid teams and complex tender processes
  • Strong commercial acumen, including risk analysis, pricing strategy, and contract understanding
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams
  • Please note: relevant screening checks, including a national criminal history check and pre-employment medical, may be required.

What we offer

  • Lead the pursuit of major renewable energy projects across Australia
  • Significant leadership scope and influence on business growth
  • Strong career development and progression opportunities
  • Inclusive, flexible, and supportive work environment
  • Access to health, wellbeing, and financial benefits
