About the Role
Infrastructure Services business based in Townsville are now seeking a reliable and self-motivated Pavement Advisor to support our clients asphalt crew. Instead of being on the tools you will be running a PQI380 to monitor pavement compaction in real-time, marking core test locations, and feeding critical information back to the Foreman and Site Engineers. You will also handle end-of-shift reports, capturing the events of what went right, and what needs attention.
This is a structured role where consistency, clear communication, and attention to detail are required. If you like owning your patch, staying one step ahead, and helping the crew hit spec every shift, you’ll thrive here.
We are seeking an individual who is comfortable working with technology, with compaction testing gear or soil testing experience advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor asphalt compaction using specialised testing equipment.
- Collect, record and interpret pavement quality data.
- Identify and mark pavement core locations for testing.
- Provide real-time feedback to supervisors and operational teams regarding compaction performance and quality outcomes.
- Conduct asphalt and pavement testing in accordance with specifications and procedures.
- Complete daily production, testing and quality reports.
- Maintain accurate records using both manual and digital reporting systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental and quality requirements.
About You
- Experience in asphalt, civil construction, road construction, materials testing, quality assurance, manufacturing, laboratory environments or similar industries.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data recording.
- Process-driven and able to consistently follow procedures and testing methodologies.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability.
- Ability to communicate effectively with site crews, supervisors and project stakeholders.
- Confident using testing equipment and digital reporting systems, or willing to learn.
- Manual and digital data entry experience is highly regarded but not essential.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- Willingness to travel and work occasional night shifts and weekends as required.
