Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

PurposeReporting to the Development Supervisor, as the Bogger Operator, you’ll play a key role in keeping development activities moving by safely and efficiently loading and transferring blasted material to trucks or stockpiles. Working closely with the Mine Controller, you'll help meet daily targets while ensuring accurate activity logging and adherence to site plans.

You’ll operate equipment in line with Newmont’s standards, perform visual inspections of your work area, and report defects promptly. You’ll also be responsible for safe practices such as correct signage and barricading, watering down headings, scaling, and maintaining good roads and loading bay conditions.

As Part of Our Team, You Will:

  • Operate Load Haul Dump (Bogger) equipment in an underground environment
  • Ensure safe and efficient loading, hauling and dumping of ore and waste
  • Conduct pre-start checks and basic machine troubleshooting
  • Identify and report hazards, defects and safety concerns
  • Work closely with supervisors and mining crews to meet production targets
  • Maintain compliance with Newmont safety standards and procedures

Prerequisites for your success in this role,

  • Proven experience operating underground boggers
  • Solid understanding of underground mining operations
  • Strong focus on safety and operational discipline
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Team player with a track record of supporting collective outcomes
  • Are mask fit ready to meet underground compliance standard
