Open Cut Examiner (OCE) / Production Supervisor

Stellar Recruitment is seeking an experienced Open Cut Examiner to join an established mining contractor at an open-cut coal operation in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, you will provide visible leadership across mining activities, ensuring statutory compliance and supporting safe, effective production. This opportunity suits a hands-on leader who builds trust with crews, makes sound decisions and takes ownership of safety standards.

The Role

• Conduct statutory inspections, identify hazards and ensure effective controls are in place across mining activities.
• Work closely with production supervisors and crews to maintain safe operating practices and address emerging risks.
• Contribute to incident investigations, corrective actions and improvements to the site’s Safety and Health Management System.
• Lead by example through pre-starts, coaching and clear communication of expectations.

About You

• Hold a Queensland-recognised Open Cut Examiner’s Certificate of Competency for Surface Coal Mines and a current practising certificate.
• Bring proven OCE experience within an open-cut coal mining environment.
• Have a strong understanding of Queensland coal mining safety legislation and statutory responsibilities.
• Demonstrate practical leadership, sound judgement and the confidence to address unsafe behaviours and conditions.
