About the role
The People Support Centre is Hancock Iron Ore’s central hub for all transactional HR employee life cycle and pay changes. An opportunity currently exists for an Officer People Support Centre to join the team based in Perth. Reporting to the Supervisor People Support Centre, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and high‑quality payroll and employee services. This role is ideal for an experienced HR/payroll professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and provides exceptional customer service to employees and stakeholders.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for day‑to‑day pay processing, onboarding new starters (including transfers and rehires), maintaining accurate data in SuccessFactors (Employee Central), managing employee benefits, and responding to queries relating to pay and leave. You’ll work closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and other internal teams to ensure all transactions are processed in line with company policy, statutory requirements, and service level agreements.
Duties:
- Action onboarding tasks for new starters, transfers, and rehires, including reviewing new hire data, managing pending recruits, and completing first pay calculations
- Process pay, leave, benefits, deductions, expense reimbursements, and employment changes accurately and on time
- Maintain accurate employee data in SuccessFactors (Employee Central) and prepare employee documentation such as contracts
- Respond to employee and stakeholder queries via ServiceNow and the PSC inbox in line with SLAs
- Process employee benefit programs such as novated leases, car parking, and travel benefits
- Facilitate workers compensation and income protection claims and support related queries
- Calculate and process termination payments and support cyclical projects such as apprentice rotations and bulk salary changes
- Undertake payroll administration, maintain spreadsheets and checking folders, and contribute to process improvements, automation, governance enhancements, and UAT activities
Skills and experience
- Prior experience in high-volume HR/payroll processing, with complex employment structures
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience with SAP and/or SuccessFactors Employee Central
- Strong numerical ability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service focus
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities
- Knowledge of Modern Awards, National Employment Standards, and payroll regulations and processes
