Our Opportunity
Location: Eliwana/Flying Fish, Pilbara region, Western Australia (90 km west of Tom Price), on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.
Roster: 7 days, 7 nights, 14 off – FIFO from Perth or Busselton.
Reporting to the Department Superintendent, your role is crucial to the success and culture of the Mobile Maintenance department at Fortescue’s Eliwana mine. As a key leader within the Mobile Maintenance team, you will be responsible for mentoring a team of tradespeople to ensure world-class fleet availability and reliability, while upholding Fortescue’s values and embracing innovative technologies.
In line with Fortescue’s ambitious goal to become the world’s first heavy industry company to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030, Eliwana will pioneer the shift to green iron operations. Your leadership will be instrumental in supporting the rollout of green fleet technology and guiding your team through this transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a diverse workforce across Eliwana’s Flying Fish workshop
- Ensure fleet availability and reliability exceed KPI targets, managing a fleet that includes Liebherr T264 dump trucks, CAT graders, wheel loaders, water carts, and wheel dozers.
- Review and execute the weekly plan for service and backlog repairs.
- Maintain high standards of organization and cleanliness within maintenance facilities.
- Oversee safe and timely breakdown repairs, ensuring adherence to parts return processes.
- Guide your team through the transition to green fleet technology, embracing new disciplines and innovative solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Australian-recognised trade qualification
- Statutory Supervisor Schedule 26
- Supervisory experience in large fleet mobile maintenance on a mine site, preferably with CAT and Liebherr equipment (Electric HME fleet experience).
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop diverse teams, especially in environments embracing change and innovation.
- Experience in planning and scheduling maintenance activities (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Strong knowledge of Mines Regulations, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and other relevant regulations.
- Understanding of HR/IR practices, including career path development.
- Ability to conduct thorough quality risk assessments.
