The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC), a thin seam open cut mining operation owned and managed by New Hope Group. NAC is based 35km north-west of Toowoomba and plays a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002.

With Stage 3 approved in 2022, the operation is set to continue production into the 2030s. When fully ramped-up, Stage 3 operations are expected to deliver about five million tonnes of saleable product per annum.

About the role:

Working a 7/7 day / night rotating roster and reporting to the Senior Supervisor / OCE, these roles will lead production crews to safely achieve production targets while fulfilling the OCE statutory obligations, when required. The role will focus on fostering a high-performance safety culture that priorities risk awareness, proactive risk management and operational excellence.

What you will do:

• Execute statutory OCE functions where required to ensure the highest safety, environmental and operational work practices are maintained
• Maintain and foster a working environment that promotes safety in all that we do, whilst delivering outstanding performance
• Supervise and coordinate daily load and haul activities to achieve production and productivity targets
• Manage shift handovers, workforce allocation, and operational reporting
• Complete incident reporting, investigations, and the implementation of corrective actions
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement

To be considered for these opportunities, you will have:

• A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Mine Supervisor
• A current Queensland Open Cut Examiner practising certificate
• Coal Mining Competencies RIIRIS301E, RIIWHS301E, RIICOM301E & RIIRIS402E
• Demonstrated experience leading large mining crews and developing high-performing teams
• Experience in thin seam mining in an open cut coal mining environment
• The ability to respectfully challenge the status quo and drive performance
