Job Statement

Genesis Minerals have a fantastic opportunity for a Mining Engineer – Paste & Backfill. Based at our Leonora, WA underground operations and reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, planning, optimisation, and governance of paste fill and cemented backfill systems that support safe and efficient underground mining.

Whilst this role is primarily focused on Paste & Backfill, there will be an opportunity to grow within the organisation by developing other skills such as Ventilation and Planning.

This is a permanent opportunity, working 8 days on, 6 days off roster. The role may be Fly-in Fly-out from Perth WA, Drive-in Drive-out from Kalgoorlie or residential in Leonora.

The opportunity

• Develop and manage paste fill and backfill plans to support safe and efficient underground mining operations.
• Monitor and optimise paste plant and backfill system performance, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, productivity, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure paste fill designs, binder usage, and strength requirements meet operational and geotechnical standards.
• Coordinate backfill schedules with Mining, Geotechnical, and Operations teams to support production targets and stope sequencing.
• Analyse operational and quality data to monitor fill performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for paste fill and underground backfill activities.
• Maintain compliance with site safety standards, procedures, and statutory requirements.
• Contribute to medium and long-term mine planning, including backfill infrastructure and process improvement projects.

We would love to hear from you if you have​:

• Degree qualified Mining Engineer or related discipline.
• Sound demonstrated experience in underground mining, with direct exposure to paste fill or backfill operations.
• Demonstrated experience in paste fill design, scheduling, and operational support.
• Strong understanding of underground stoping methods and backfill requirements.
• Experience optimising paste plant performance, binder consumption, and fill quality outcomes.
• Sound knowledge of geotechnical and operational risks associated with underground backfill systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Mining, Geotechnical, Processing, and Operational teams.
