Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team delivering major studies and projects across the resources sector.

This Perth-based role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, including scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility and execution. You will work alongside experienced engineers while developing your technical capability across mechanical design, equipment packages and multidisciplinary project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Engineer with mechanical design activities and deliverables.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable regulations, codes, standards and industry best practice.
• Prepare and review mechanical calculations, equipment selections and datasheets.
• Develop equipment lists, piping lists, utility consumption lists, lubrication schedules, tie-in schedules, capital spare schedules and bills of materials.
• Review 3D models, plot plans, layouts, general arrangements and construction drawings.
• Assist with equipment specifications, requisition packages and technical clarifications.
• Support bid evaluations, vendor documentation reviews and technical query resolution.
• Participate in inspections and factory acceptance testing.
• Contribute to design, safety, risk, cost and schedule reviews.
• Collaborate effectively with engineering and project stakeholders across multiple disciplines.

To be successful in this role, you will have

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Approximately 2 to 5 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Experience within mining, resources or heavy industry.
• Previous experience in a consultancy or on large, complex mechanical infrastructure projects.
• Exposure to materials handling systems, particularly conveyors and transfer chutes.
• Experience with process plants, slurry pumping or piping systems will be highly regarded.
• Construction, commissioning, operations or maintenance experience will be advantageous.
• Strong teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
• A motivated, flexible and adaptable approach to changing project requirements.
