About the Role

Laboratory Technicians x3 – Asphalt & Bitumen
Townsville, QLD | Full-Time

Join a leading construction materials team and play a vital role in ensuring the quality and performance of asphalt, bitumen, polymer modified bitumen (PMB) and emulsion products. Based in Townsville, this hands-on role offers the opportunity to work in a NATA-accredited laboratory supporting major infrastructure and road construction projects across North Queensland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing on asphalt, polymer-modified bitumen (PMB), emulsions and bitumen products in accordance with Australian Standards, NATA requirements and company procedures.
  • Coordinate the receipt, preparation, tracking and testing of samples to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Handle, store and dispose of laboratory chemicals safely and in line with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Accurately record test results, undertake data analysis and prepare reports while maintaining laboratory documentation.
  • Conduct equipment calibration, verification and routine maintenance to ensure testing integrity and reliability.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised laboratory environment, complying with all workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical support and quality advice to production and operational teams.
  • Assist in maintaining NATA accreditation through adherence to quality management systems, procedures and audit requirements.
  • Undertake local travel as required to support operational and customer needs across the Townsville and North Queensland region.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Experience in laboratory testing, preferably within asphalt, bitumen, construction materials, civil infrastructure or related industries.
  • Knowledge of NATA-accredited laboratory environments and quality management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately record, analyse and interpret test results.
  • Experience in laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • A sound understanding of workplace health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Strong computer literacy and data management skills.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A current driver’s licence.
