About the Company

Our client, a major operation within the Phosphate Hill Mine, is seeking an experienced Injury Management / Return to Work Coordinator to join their team on an initial 3-month contract.

About the Role

Reporting to the relevant Health, Safety & Wellbeing team, you will play a critical role in supporting injured workers, supervisors and key stakeholders through all aspects of injury management and rehabilitation. You will be responsible for ensuring compliant, practical and timely return-to-work outcomes while maintaining strong stakeholder engagement across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage occupational injury and rehabilitation cases from initial notification through to recovery and return to work.
  • Coordinate suitable duties programs and return-to-work plans.
  • Liaise with injured workers, supervisors, medical practitioners, rehabilitation providers and insurers.
  • Support the management of workers’ compensation claims and rehabilitation activities.
  • Monitor claim progress and provide advice on recovery and return-to-work outcomes.
  • Conduct workplace assessments and identify barriers to successful return to work.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Workers’ Compensation and WHS legislation.
  • Investigate workplace injuries and incidents and contribute to preventative initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation and case records.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders regarding injury management obligations and best practice.

About You / Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Injury Management Advisor, Return to Work Coordinator or Rehabilitation Coordinator.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex workers’ compensation and rehabilitation cases.
  • Strong understanding of Queensland Workers’ Compensation legislation and return-to-work processes.
  • Experience working with WorkCover, self-insurance programs or large employer injury management frameworks.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving, influencing and case management capabilities.
  • A practical and collaborative approach to achieving sustainable return-to-work outcomes.

Highly Regarded

  • RTWC (Return to Work Coordinator) Certification.
  • Qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety, Rehabilitation, Human Resources, Health Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Mining, heavy industry, construction, resources or industrial experience.
  • Experience investigating incidents and identifying injury prevention initiatives.
