Dawson Mine

Our Dawson operation is a large open-cut coal mine and is showing no signs of slowing down! Dawson’s mining process is completed by varied fleets of which this role focuses on the biggest; Draglines & Electric Rope Shovels, but also other electrical assets critical to the business including site HV Powerlines, HV Transportable Substations, and Electrical equipment associated with mine industrial area fixed infrastructure including workshops.It’s not just the interesting large pieces of equipment that you would be working on, it’s also the placement of Dawson, it is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, being just over a 2hrs drive west from either Rockhampton or Gladstone, or 4.5hrs drive north of the Darling Downs or South Burnett.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and qualified HV Electrician in Field Maintenance Services to permanently join our Maintenance department at Dawson Mine in Moura, QLD.Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will contribute as a member of the Maintenance team ensuring the availability, reliability and performance of mining equipment is optimised and the electrical maintenance plan is achieved to enable production targets to be met in compliance with statutory, safety, health, budget, and environmental requirements.As the HV Electrician, the key responsibilities are:

• Preventative maintenance through scheduled inspections, servicing, adjustments, troubleshooting, and timely repair of Draglines, Shovels and Substations
• Provide reliable and accurate maintenance knowledge and expertise to minimise downtime of HME equipment
• Working knowledge of all task instructions and procedures to adhere to when carrying out maintenance tasks
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping and accurate record keeping wherever work is carried out
• Electrical inspection and maintenance of open-cut electrical fixed plant electrical systems
• Testing & Tagging, of electrical equipment/appliances
• Electrical isolations/lockouts as per the site SHMS procedures
• Statutory inspections & testing of electrical protection systems
• Ensure all electrical activities are undertaken and are performed in line with relevant statutory requirements and site Safety Health Management System.

Qualifications & Certifications

• QLD Electrical License and relevant Electrical Trade Certification
• A Manual C-Class Australian Driver’s License
• Experience and knowledge in PLC controlled equipment and systems
• HV Switching qualification is desirable
• Experience with Draglines, Electric Rope Shovels and HV Substations is highly regarded
• A basic understanding of SAP maintenance systems is desirable
• Additional tickets are desirable: Elevated Work Platform (EWP), Forklift, Rigging and Dogging, Confined Space and Working at Heights
