About the Opportunity

Avenira is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to establish and lead the Health, Safety and Environment function for the Wonarah Phosphate Project. Reporting to the Resident Manager and forming part of the site leadership team, this role will provide strategic direction while remaining actively involved in the practical delivery of HSE outcomes across the operation.

This is a rare opportunity to build HSE systems, standards and culture from the ground up as the project progresses from approvals and development through to construction and production. This role sits at the centre of risk: managing safety and environmental exposure to ALARP, supporting operational readiness, and helping shape one of the Northern Territory's most significant emerging mining projects.

Roster and Location

Join the site leadership team on an 8/6 FIFO roster and influence HSE and risk practices as this long-life operation is established.

Avenira welcomes applications nationally, with preferred FIFO points of hire including Darwin, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Townsville, Mt Isa and Cairns.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead site HSE systems, standards and governance
• Drive safety, environmental and operational risk management
• Maintain compliance with legislation, approvals and reporting obligations
• Lead incident investigations, emergency preparedness and improvement initiatives
• Build and lead the HSE team as the project grows
• Partner with leaders to embed a positive safety culture
• Support community and traditional owner engagement
• Provide strategic HSE advice across the project and broader business

About You

• Tertiary qualification in HSE, Environmental Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
• Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
• 8 -10 years' HSE leadership experience in mining, resources or heavy industry
• Experience implementing HSE systems and compliance frameworks
• Strong HSE, risk management and incident investigation capability
• Experience leading teams in operational or project environments
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Able to balance strategic direction with hands-on delivery
