RCR Mining Technologies is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team in Bunbury. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience across the design, development, verification, and delivery of mechanical plant and equipment while working alongside experienced engineering professionals.
About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering leadership team, you will support the delivery of engineering projects within the bulk materials handling sector, contributing to projects from concept design through to execution. You'll receive mentoring, structured development, and exposure to a wide range of engineering activities that will help build a strong foundation for your career.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with engineering and design activities for mechanical plant and equipment.
- Perform engineering calculations and support design verification activities.
- Assist with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering assessments.
- Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, and constructability workshops.
- Prepare engineering documentation, technical reports, and project deliverables.
- Support tendering and project delivery teams with technical input and design assistance.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, drafting personnel, and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
Qualifications. Skills and Experience
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Up to 2 years' relevant experience through employment, vacation work, internships, or graduate placements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving capability.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- Exposure to ANSYS, Strand7, Nastran or similar FEA software.
- Knowledge of mining, resources, materials handling, or machine design.
- Engineers Australia membership or eligibility.
- Progress towards Chartered Engineer or RPEng accreditation.
