About the Role

Northern Star Resources currently has an opportunity for a Geotechnical Superintendent – Projects to join the team in our Subiaco Head Office on a Monday to Friday roster. Reporting to the Group Geotechnical Engineer, you will provide geotechnical leadership across project design and delivery.

Here is what awaits you

  • Lead and endorse geotechnical design, analysis, and verification for major or complex projects
  • Select, justify, and review technical approaches, assumptions, and analysis methods
  • Integrate geotechnical inputs with mine planning, construction, operations, schedules, and budgets
  • Review and improve inputs from consultants, contractors, and vendors
  • Identify, document, and manage geotechnical uncertainty, limitations, and residual risk
  • Drive practical, risk‑based solutions and determine when further analysis or redesign is required
  • Ensure geotechnical work is current, validated, traceable, and proportionately peer‑reviewed
  • Close the loop between investigation, design, and observed performance, including post‑project reviews
  • Manage competing project objectives and resources while protecting geotechnical acceptance criteria
  • Mentor engineers and provide constructive technical challenge to improve decision quality

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in open pit and underground mining operations and projects, with in‑depth understanding of geotechnical design, and operational execution in complex environments.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (mining, civil, or geological engineering)
  • postgraduate degree in mine geomechanics
  • current Australian C - Class Drivers licence.
