About the Role

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings, preparing material requirements, coordinating suppliers, and supporting workshop job packs and documentation to ensure production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering and fabrication drawings to determine material specifications, dimensions, grades, and quantities.
  • Prepare material take-offs, bills of materials, and procurement requirements from approved drawings and fabrication documentation.
  • Source and procure materials, consumables, and services in line with project requirements and procurement procedures.
  • Obtain supplier quotations, negotiate pricing, and coordinate purchase orders and deliveries.
  • Expedite deliveries and resolve supply issues to minimise disruption to production schedules.
  • Support verification of material certifications, traceability records, and compliance documentation.
  • Create and maintain job packs, job cards, and procurement documentation within company systems.
  • Collaborate with fabrication, production, warehouse, quality, and project teams to ensure materials and information are available when required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance procurement reliability, reduce waste, and improve supplier performance.

Qualifications. Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Trade qualification in fabrication, mechanical, or a related discipline, or equivalent workshop/materials experience.
  • Experience in fabrication, workshop planning, procurement, materials coordination, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience preparing material take-offs, bills of materials, and purchasing requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP, purchasing, inventory, or document management systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and production deadlines.
  • Current C-Class Driver's Licence.

Desirable

  • Certificate III or IV in Supply Chain Operations, Procurement, Logistics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with steel suppliers and material traceability requirements.
  • Experience using ERP, inventory management, purchasing, or manufacturing systems.
  • Exposure to workshop job packs, fabrication instructions, and production documentation.
