The Electrical Engineer role is responsible for delivering high-quality electrical engineering outcomes across a portfolio of high voltage projects and asset improvement initiatives within Mount Isa Mines. The position plays a critical role in coordinating electrical project activities from initial design through to construction, ensuring all work meets engineering standards, safety requirements, and business objectives. The role sits within the High Voltage Projects team and reports directly to the Senior Electrical Engineer – High Voltage Projects, working closely with operations, maintenance, and technical stakeholders to maximise plant availability and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver electrical projects from design through to construction, ensuring compliance with standards and budgets
- Develop detailed scopes of work and project plans for electrical asset improvement initiatives
- Manage tendering processes, procurement, and contractor performance
- Monitor project progress, including financial tracking, reporting, and risk management
- Investigate and troubleshoot faults within high voltage networks to minimise downtime
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies and reliability programs for electrical assets
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and ensure compliance with WHS requirements
- Provide technical support to operational and engineering teams across site
- Maintain accurate documentation, including testing, inspections, and project close-out reports
- Mentor junior and graduate engineers and support team development initiatives
- Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on project outcomes and priorities
About you – skills and experience
The successful candidate will be an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong exposure to high voltage systems, project delivery, and asset reliability within industrial or mining environments. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management capability, and strong stakeholder engagement skills to effectively manage complex engineering projects. Experience working within regulated environments and an understanding of safety, compliance, and operational requirements is essential
You will bring:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in electrical and instrumentation design
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects
- Strong knowledge of high voltage networks and electrical reliability practices
- Experience in contractor and construction management
- Solid understanding of Australian standards, safety systems, and legislative requirements
- Experience with risk management and asset reliability strategies
- Proficiency in engineering and business systems (e.g. SAP, Ellipse, AutoCAD, PowerCAD, PTW)
- Strong project management and financial tracking capability
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and teamwork skills
- High level of attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
