Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising a Diesel Fitter vacancy that exists in the George Fisher Mine – Technical Services team. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa, working a 7/7 day night roster. We encourage suitably qualified and experienced local candidates to apply. For those candidates located outside of Mount Isa, relocation support is available for this position to enable you and your family to live and work in Mount Isa.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, results-focused and ambitious individual to join us in a role of a Diesel Fitter with the Mobile Fleet team at George Fisher Mine. Reporting to the Mobile Fleet Supervisor, you will have the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, working in a dynamic and challenging environment with a high focus on planned maintenance. The ideal person will be required to participate in all aspects of fleet maintenance, including; routine maintenance, corrective repairs and breakdowns.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Performing heavy fleet maintenance work, as well as   breakdown repairs;
• Undertaking planned maintenance tasks as instructed;
• Project work as required;
• Working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary trade team;
• Demonstrating a high standard of professional workmanship;
• Planned maintenance activities on assets such as Sandvik, Caterpillar, Volvo and Normet;
• Contributing to continuous improvement opportunities;
• Maintaining and improving OH&S and overall operational standards in the workplace;
• Mentoring apprentices.

You will have the following skillset and attributes:

• Trade qualified Diesel Fitter;
• High risk work licence, Working at Heights and Confined Space, forklift licence, overhead gantry crane;
• Mining experience preferred but not essential;
• Excellent trouble-shooting & problem solving skills:
• Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail;
• Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure;
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment;
• Good communication skills;
• Willingness and ability to learn new processes;
• Hold a current Australian Manual Drivers Licence;
• Experience in SAP would be an advantage or similar system;
• Experience in Excel would be an advantage
