Senior Maintenance Planner

Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Maintenance Planner to join our site based Planning team.

As a Senior Planner you will provide guidance and mentoring to the Planner/Scheduler team as well as lead the weekly planning meetings, promoting team compliance to work management practices and KPI’s.

This role is a permanent position, operating on an 8 days on 6 days off roster.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• A Trade Qualification - Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker preferred
• WA C Class Drivers Licence
• Demonstrated experience as a Planner/Scheduler in a mining or other heavy industry for minimum 5 years
• Proven knowledge and experience working within a fixed plant mineral processing environment
• Demonstrated experience in planning and scheduling of large shutdown activities
• Knowledge of mineral processing  and associated mobile and non-mobile equipment
• Proficient with computer systems including the Microsoft Office Suit and SAP (Maintenance system)
• Understanding of maintenance management principles and work management systems
• Knowledge and experience with SAP CMMS advantageous
• National Police clearance

Key Duties (but not limited to) :-

• Lead maintenance planning meetings and manage end-to-end planning and scheduling of maintenance and shutdown activities
• Ensure compliance with the Maintenance Work Management System (MWMS) and maintain accurate CMMS data to support reliability and cost analysis
• Plan and schedule preventative, predictive, and corrective mechanical maintenance in line with production requirements
• Lead planning and scheduling for Main Plant Outages (MPO) involving 500+ personnel, including development of accurate Gantt schedules
• Collaborate cross-functionally to improve maintenance strategies, planning standards, and technical outcomes
• Monitor and report on planning performance, risks, issues, and improvement opportunities
• Support operational budgeting, productivity initiatives, and continuous improvement across the Maintenance department
• Act as delegate for the Superintendent Maintenance Planning when required
