Pearl Recruitment Group is partnering with a respected engineering consultancy servicing the mining, mineral processing and materials handling sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of major projects, they are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.

About the Role
As the Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading high-performing multidisciplinary teams and drive the successful delivery of complex engineering projects. Key responsibilities will include:
- Take ownership of the engineering design function and drive strong outcomes across quality, cost and project delivery.
- Guide the successful delivery of complex projects, ensuring all design work meets client expectations, project requirements and agreed deadlines.
- Champion consistent systems, processes and standards across the Design Group to improve collaboration, efficiency and delivery performance.
- Lead, mentor and inspire a multidisciplinary team of approximately 12–15 personnel (made up of engineers, designers, contractors and subcontractors).
- Oversee weekly and monthly resource planning through Deltek Vantagepoint, balancing workloads and ensuring projects have the right people at the right time.
- Monitor team capacity, resolve competing priorities and proactively address resourcing or delivery challenges.
- Provide clear forecasting and reporting on functional performance, resource requirements and key leadership metrics.
- Foster a high-performance culture built around ownership, accountability, excellence and continuous improvement.
About You / Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline (Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer status highly advantageous).
- At least 15 years’ experience in engineering design, including strong experience managing design teams (for similar mineral processing / bulk material handling projects).
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across large and complex capital projects.
- Strong understanding of the EPCM project lifecycle, stage-gate processes and designing projects with construction requirements in mind.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Tekla, MicroStation, SmartPlant, Revit, AVEVA or similar discipline-specific programs.
- Experience using ERP or project management systems for resource planning, workload management and project delivery (previous experience with Deltek Vantagepoint highly advantageous).
