Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.
Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Cyber Security Engineer in either Melbourne to support security accreditation, assurance and compliance activities across Defence Command Support Systems capabilities.
What You’ll Do
These roles offer a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
- Lead and coordinate security accreditation activities for CA33 Interim Battle Management System capabilities.
- Develop, maintain and update security accreditation artefacts, security reports and supporting documentation.
- Conduct cyber security risk assessments and ensure risks are documented, treated and managed in line with Defence requirements.
- Support Authority to Operate maintenance and ongoing security assurance activities.
- Provide security advisory support to engineering, software development and sustainment teams to ensure technical activities align with Defence security requirements.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in security accreditation, system authorisation or security assurance within Defence or Government environments.
- Strong working knowledge of the Information Security Manual and related Australian Government cyber security requirements.
- Experience applying cyber security frameworks such as Essential Eight, DISP, ISO 27001 or NIST.
- Demonstrated experience preparing accreditation documentation, security reports and risk assessments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work closely with engineering and technical teams across the systems lifecycle.
Due to the nature of the work, the successful applicant must be an Australian citizen and hold and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance, as required by the Commonwealth. In some cases, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) may also be required.
