Crane Borer Operator
UGL
Job Description
This is a great opportunity for experienced mobile plant, HIAB or crane operators — or Distribution Lineworkers looking to transition off the tools — to move into a specialist utilities role.
You will operate crane borers supporting distribution powerline replacement and maintenance works across metro and regional WA. Prior powerline experience is not essential. If you have strong operating skills, a safety-first mindset and the right attitude, UGL will train you.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate crane borers safely and within manufacturer limits.
- Support distribution powerline maintenance and replacement works.
- Conduct daily pre-starts, inspections and basic crane maintenance.
- Assess ground conditions and correctly set up outriggers.
- Work closely with Distribution Lineworker crews and site teams.
- Maintain a strong safety focus in line with UGL's One HSE Culture.
What's on Offer
- $54.32 p/h + overtime penalties
- Regional work with LAHA up to $385/day
- $4/hr remote allowance on all remote work.
- 10/4 roster (Tuesday–Thursday, paid RDO Friday)
- Permanent, full-time role on a long-term Western Power utility contract.
- Full training provided for operators transitioning from mining, civil or linework.
- Relocation assistance available.
- Depot based in Canning Vale, Perth.
About You
- Proven experience operating mobile plant, HIAB or cranes (mining, civil or utilities highly regarded).
- High Risk Work Licence, C2 / C6.
- HR driver licence.
- White Card (WHS Construction Card).
- Strong safety record and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work metro and regional WA.
Highly Regarded
- Experience in power infrastructure, utilities or mining.
