About the Role
The Carrapateena mining team is growing, and we are looking for self-driven and enthusiastic cost engineer to join our team.
This role is based at Carrapateena, FIFO from Adelaide or Port Augusta. Roster options include 8/6 or 4/3 (with flexibility).
In this role you will:
- Support the Manager – Mining Operations and Senior Cost Engineer through the management and administration of executed contracts, enabling the successful delivery of mining physicals.
- Assess, validate, and manage contractor claims, including payments, milestones, and variations.
- Identify and execute business improvement initiatives.
- Analyse and track department expenditure and support the cost attribution between the operating sub-level cave and block cave development.
- Assist in the preparation of cost models for department budgets and forecasts.
- Serve as a conduit between the Mining Operations team and Finance, Procurement and Major Projects teams.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, Business, Economics, or related field is preferred
- Experience in an underground mining environment, with in-depth knowledge of the underground mining advantageous
- Experience and/or understanding of contractual frameworks and contract mining
- Experience in the administration and management of contracts, including payments, review of claims and variation assessment desirable
- Experience in mining cost analysis and improvement
- Business acumen and understanding of business value drivers and value optimisation processes applying divergent and convergent thinking skills
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills and a proven ability to engage with multiple stakeholders
- Strong relationship building, influencing and organisation skills, with an ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment
- Well-developed time management and prioritisation skills, with high attention to detail and excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- The ability to think strategically and effectively collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders and contract partners
