Core Logging Geologist

An exciting opportunity has become available with a growing gold mining operation in Western Australia. Due to ongoing drilling and resource growth programs, we are seeking an experienced Core Logging Geologist to join a high-performing geology team on an 8:6 FIFO roster. This position offers excellent long-term prospects, with a strong possibility of transitioning into a permanent role.

Your new role

Reporting to the Senior Geologist, your responsibilities will include:

• Detailed geological logging of diamond drill core
• Structural, lithological and alteration interpretation
• Core orientation and structural data collection
• Sample selection, QA/QC and assay management
• Core photography and geological record keeping
• Supporting resource definition and exploration drilling programs
• Maintaining accurate geological databases
• Liaising with drilling contractors and field personnel
• Preparing daily and weekly geological reports
• Ensuring compliance with site safety and environmental standards

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline
• Previous experience logging diamond core within a mining or exploration environment
• Strong understanding of structural geology and mineralisation systems
• Experience with drilling programs, sampling and QA/QC procedures
• Exposure to resource definition or near-mine exploration programs
• Familiarity with software such as Leapfrog, Micromine, acQuire or similar
• Current C Class Driver's Licence
• Ability to work effectively in a FIFO environment
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
