Description & Requirements

This role will see you working on a major alliance based contract model for a power generation construction project in Queensland, taking on a senior leadership position within the project team, reporting to the Project Director. As the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the full commercial function, including project controls, cost management and contracts (upstream and downstream), ensuring strong commercial governance and successful project delivery. This role will suit someone with strong relationship-building and influencing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effective and timely management of upstream/downstream contracts and commercial activities

• Liaison and relationship management with a range of internal and external contacts

• Acting as the commercial representative for allocated project

• Pro-active risk and opportunity management

• Provide overall leadership across project controls, cost and contract management functions

• Drive commercial strategy and governance across the project lifecycle

• Oversee cost control, forecasting, reporting and financial performance inclusive of all CPI and SPI reporting requirements

• Lead the management of contracts, claims and commercial risk

• Ensure the coordination of all commercial functions across the project and the analysis of these function to identify trends, risks and opportunities

• Support the Project team in achieving project milestones, budgets and commercial outcomes

• Manage and mentor a team across project controls, commercial and contracts disciplines

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders

What you’ll bring:

• Tertiary qualification in Commercial, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Engineering or related field

• Strong experience in commercial management on large-scale construction projects

• Proven background across project controls, cost management and contract administration

• EPC and Design & Construct project experience is essential

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary commercial teams

• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability

• Experience working on major energy, infrastructure or resources projects

• Experience is preferable for candidates that have experience in managing alliance based, open book agreements

• Ideally have a Brisbane point of hire, open to candidates from other locations willing to support the project
