About the Role

This is a hands on Health, Safety and Training Advisor role at a local mine site in the Gunnedah Basin. You will report to the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent and provide practical advice and support across all aspects of health, safety and training. Working closely with operational teams, you will assist with incident investigations, risk assessments, compliance activities, contractor management, health administration and the coordination of training and competency programs. This varied role offers the opportunity to influence positive safety outcomes, build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to the ongoing development of a safe, compliant and capable workforce. This role offers a 9-day fortnight, with a minimum of 9 hours worked per day, providing an excellent work life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide health, safety and training advice and support to site leaders and employees.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, risk management, incident investigations and workplace inspections.
  • Support compliance with WHS legislation, safety management systems and site procedures.
  • Coordinate health monitoring, medicals, contractor compliance and onboarding requirements.
  • Maintain accurate health, safety and training records, databases and reporting.
  • Coordinate site training programs, inductions, competency assessments and refresher training.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external training providers to deliver effective and compliant training solutions.
  • Monitor emergency response preparedness, first aid requirements and training schedules.
  • Assist with audits, compliance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40122).
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Previous experience in a Health, Safety and/or Training role, ideally within mining, heavy industry or a similar environment.
  • Sound knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with training and safety management systems (experience with WHC360, Onsite or SharePoint is advantageous).
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and promoting safe work practices.
