Wastewater Technician - FIFO ex Perth 2/2 | Cocos Island

We’re currently seeking an experienced Wastewater Technician to join our team on Cocos Island, supporting a small camp environment of approximately 100 residents this July 2026. This role is FIFO ex Perth on a 2/2 Roster.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a highly specialised environment where water treatment is critical to daily operations. The island relies heavily on desalination systems (SWRO) and wastewater infrastructure to maintain safe and sustainable water supply.

The Role
Reporting to the Village Manager & Senior Water Technician, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring and maintenance of the site’s water and wastewater treatment systems.

You’ll be working to maintain wastewater systems, ensuring everything is running safely, efficiently and in line with compliance requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Monitoring plant systems, flow rates and gauges to ensure smooth operation
• Conducting water sampling and testing including pH, dissolved oxygen and bacteria levels
• Maintaining and servicing pumps, filters, valves and associated equipment
• Managing chemical dosing and maintaining appropriate stock levels
• Ensuring all processes meet regulatory and compliance standards
• Maintaining accurate records and reporting on system performance
• Supporting site safety processes and contributing to a strong safety culture
• Assisting with training and supporting team members where required

About You

• Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (highly regarded)
• Previous experience in water or wastewater treatment, ideally FIFO or remote
• Strong understanding of water treatment systems and processes
• Confident with maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment
• Good understanding of compliance and reporting requirements
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously
• Solid problem solving skills and a proactive approach
• National Police Check (less than one month old)
• Ability to pass pre employment medical and drug and alcohol screening
