About the Role
In the vacation student surveying role, gain hands-on experience supporting survey activities across the mine site, working alongside experienced surveyors
Some of your work may include:
- Support site surveys using GPS, total stations, and drones.
- Set out drill patterns, pit boundaries, roads, and infrastructure.
- Help calculate ore, waste, and stockpile volumes for reporting.
- Process survey data and update mine maps and plans.
- Perform monitoring surveys to support site safety and compliance

- Northparkes Operations, NSW
- One of Australia's most technically advanced mining operations, featuring block cave, sub-level cave and open pit mining.
- Roster: 5:2/4:3
- Included: Subsidised accommodation, flights at the start and end of the program, plus return travel over the festive period.
- Cowal Gold Operations, NSW
- A major gold operation near West Wyalong, offering a residential mining experience within a welcoming regional community.
- Roster: 5:2/4:3
- Included: Subsidised accommodation, flights at the start and end of the program, plus return travel over the festive period.
- Ernest Henry Operations, QLD
- A large-scale copper-gold-silver operation near Cloncurry in north-west Queensland.
- Roster: 5:2/4:3
- Included: Residential housing, site transport, flights at the start and end of the program, plus return travel over the festive period.
About You
We're looking for motivated students who are curious, hands-on and keen to grow their technical skills.
- Studying surveying, spatial science, geomatics, mining engineering, or a related discipline
- Have a basic understanding of surveying principles and spatial data collection.
- A strong problem-solver with analytical thinking skills
- A confident communicator and team player
- Willing to live and work in a regional mining environment
- Hold a valid manual driver's licence
