About the role
In the Vacation Student – Safety & Risk role, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety and risk systems across our operations. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll contribute to initiatives that help create safe, healthy and productive workplaces.
Some of your work may include:
- Assist with workplace inspections and safety interactions
- Support risk assessments and hazard identification activities
- Participate in safety improvement initiatives and projects
- Assist with incident investigations and corrective action tracking
- Contribute to safety reporting and data analysis
- Support training and awareness activities across site
- Work with operational teams to promote a proactive safety culture
Program location
Cowal Gold Operations, NSW Located near West Wyalong in Central New South Wales, Cowal is one of Australia's largest open pit gold mines, offering students exposure to a large-scale mining operation within a supportive regional community.
- Roster: 5:2/4:3
- Included: Subsidised accommodation, flights at the commencement and conclusion of the program, plus return travel home during the festive period.
About you
We're looking for motivated students who are curious, hands-on and keen to grow their technical skills. You'll be:
- Studying Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, Health Science or a related discipline
- Demonstrating an interest in workplace health, safety and risk management
- A strong problem-solver with analytical thinking skills
- A confident communicator and team player
- Willing to live and work in a regional mining environment
- Hold a valid manual driver's licence
