About the role
In the Vacation Student – Mining Engineer (Short Term Planning) role, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting mine planning activities that help deliver safe and efficient production outcomes. Working alongside experienced engineers and operational teams, you'll contribute to the development and execution of short-term mining plans.
Some of your work may include:
- Assist with daily, weekly and monthly mine planning activities
- Support the development of production schedules and forecasts
- Contribute to drill and blast planning and reporting
- Monitor mining performance against plan and identify improvement opportunities
- Assist with data analysis, reconciliation and production reporting
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across mining operations
- Work closely with engineering, geology and operations teams to deliver operational outcomes
Program location
Ernest Henry Operations, QLD
Located near Cloncurry in north-west Queensland, Ernest Henry is a world-class copper and gold operation renowned for its underground mining and mineral processing activities.
Roster: 5:2/4:3
Included: Residential accommodation, site transport, flights at the commencement and conclusion of the program, plus return travel home during the festive period.
About you
We're looking for motivated students who are curious, hands-on and keen to grow their technical skills.
You'll be:
- Studying Mining Engineering or a related discipline
- Demonstrating an interest in mine planning and mining operations
- A strong problem-solver with analytical thinking skills
- A confident communicator and team player
- Interested in developing practical skills in a production environment
- Willing to live and work in a regional mining environment
- Hold a valid manual driver's licence
