About the Role

As a Data Scientist (Analyst) Vacation Student in our Asset Optimisation team, you'll gain hands-on experience within a leading global mining business. Throughout the summer, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to analyse data, solve real business challenges, and contribute to projects that support operational performance and improvement across our global operations. The program provides a unique opportunity to apply the knowledge gained through your university studies in a real-world setting, while building the technical, professional, and problem-solving capabilities needed for a successful career. Through meaningful project involvement and on-site experience, you'll develop a deeper understanding of mining operations and the role your discipline plays in delivering safe and sustainable outcomes.

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Support data-driven decision-making by contributing to advanced analytics projects that improve operational performance, productivity, and business outcomes.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to reduce operational variability, optimise costs, and enhance decision-making through innovative data science and analytics solutions.
  • Apply your university studies in a practical environment while developing valuable skills in data analytics, problem-solving, and continuous business improvement.

About You / Requirements

  • Current driver’s licence (ideally manual license or with desire to obtain it in the future)
  • In progress of completing your tertiary qualification in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or similar (second year or above)
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
  • Comfortable working 12-hour shifts in remote locations on a fly in, fly out roster
