About the Role
We are seeking either an experienced Trainer & Assessor or a highly skilled underground operator looking to transition into the training and safety space to support workforce capability and safety performance on site. This role focuses on delivering competency-based training on underground equipment and ensuring operators meet site and legislative requirements.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who can engage crews, drive standards, and support safe, productive underground operations.
Whether you already have experience in training and assessment or are an operational underground miner with strong leadership skills and a passion for mentoring others, this role offers an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in training, safety, and workforce development within underground mining.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver training and assessments for underground mobile equipment and operations
- Conduct site inductions, VOCs, and refresher training
- Develop and update training materials, assessments, and competency frameworks
- Support workforce compliance with site standards and statutory requirements
- Work closely with supervisors to identify and close training gaps
- Maintain accurate training records and competency matrices
- Promote safe work practices and reinforce site safety culture
About You
- Proven experience as a Trainer & Assessor in underground mining, or extensive operational underground mining experience with an interest in moving into training and safety
- Strong knowledge of underground equipment and operations
- Confident communicating with and mentoring diverse crews in high-risk environments
- Ability to engage, coach, and influence frontline personnel
- Well organised with strong attention to detail and compliance
- Passion for developing people and promoting a strong safety culture
Requirements
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE), or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated underground mining experience (essential)
- Relevant tickets/competencies on underground equipment (highly regarded)
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and Drug & Alcohol Screen
