Underground Mine Geologist
MPI Recruitment
Job Description
About the Role
Staying busy underground isn't the same as building your career. This role gives you the chance to do both.
If you're looking for an opportunity where you can continue developing technically while gaining broader exposure across an active underground operation, this could be worth a closer look.
You'll join a long-life underground gold operation with multiple mining areas and active diamond drilling programs, giving you the opportunity to work across a diverse range of geological activities. From grade control and underground mapping through to drilling support, interpretation and modelling, you'll be part of a team that plays a central role in the success of the operation.
FIFO from Perth, the roster is 8:6, 8:6, 7:7, comprising two swings of days followed by one swing of nights. The operation offers the scale and activity level to keep the work interesting and the learning continuous.
Reporting to the Senior Geologist, you'll work closely with mining and technical services teams to support production and help drive geological outcomes across the operation. It's a hands-on role that will suit someone who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day realities of underground mining while continuing to build their technical capability.
It's an environment where people are trusted to take ownership and supported to develop.
In return, you'll have access to performance and retention incentives, salary packaging options and relocation assistance for those looking to make the move to Western Australia from the East Coast, along with genuine opportunities for professional development as your career progresses.
To be successful, you'll likely bring:
- A degree in Geology or a related discipline
- Around 2+ years' experience in a mining geology role, ideally within gold underground operations
- Exposure to grade control, geological mapping and sampling
- Experience using software such as Vulcan, Leapfrog and/or acQuire
- A current Australian manual driver's licence
- Strong time management skills and a positive, team-oriented approach.
If you're looking for a role that offers more than just another swing underground, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
Unfortunately, MPI are only able to consider people with appropriate and relevant experience, and who are either Australian Permanent Residents or have the necessary permits to work in Australia and whom are currently in Australia.
